Course Description
This course will cover best practices for responding to natural disasters, damage or destruction of the premises, death of a resident and other emergency situations.  We will review the various provisions of the TAA lease dealing with these situations, and the relevant sections of the Texas Property Code addressing landlords’ obligations when the premises are severely damaged or destroyed.  We will also learn best practices when responding to the death of a resident, and the landlord’s legal obligations when presented with a power of attorney (legal authority of one person to act on behalf of another, including signing contracts).

In this class you will learn:

  • How to Respond to Emergency situations
  • TAA lease provisions regarding emergencies
  • Texas Property Code and the landlords’ obligations
  • Responding to the death of a resident and power of attorney

Cancellation must be received in writing and approved by the AAGD Education Department 24 hours in advance. Important; keep your cancellation approval e-mail for your records.  No shows will be billed without exception. Student substitutions will be accepted until 24 hours before the class begins.
