CREDENTIAL COURSES & INFORMATION

Credentials of the National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI) are the premier offerings for multifamily housing professionals. These valuable courses increase your knowledge, demonstrate your commitment to the industry, and display the importance of developing your career. All Credential programs are a recognized and respected mark of excellence throughout the industry.

AAGD has proudly offered Credential courses for over 30 years. Bi-annually we offer our members the CALP, CAM, CAS, CAPS, and CAMT credentials.

2021 NAAEI CREDENTIAL CERTIFICATE CHANGES

As of the Fall of 2019, all Candidates are able to print their own Certificate after completing their credential program. Paper certificates will no longer be issued. Candidates will receive an e-mail from NAAEI with a link to their certificate portal where they will have access to printable certificates, wallet cards and also be able to download digital badges for their professional e-mail signature.


2021 NAAEI CREDENTIAL EXAM CHANGES

As of January 2019, the CAM and CAPS exams transitioned from two-part to one-part exams, and only one pass or fail score will be given. If a candidate fails the exam, they will be required to retake the entire exam.

The following aspects of the exam will remain the same: the number of questions on each test will not change, nor will the amount of time (four hours) allowed for each exam. You will not notice any difference during the administration of the exam.

Exams are administered via a Live Online Proctored Platform or, if available, candidates can schedule to take their exam at a Scantron testing site. More information about Live Online Proctoring can be found on our website here.


EARN CREDENTIALS ONLINE

Great News! You can now earn your CAM, CAPS, and NALP credentials online! It is simple and you can take the classes anywhere and anytime you have internet access. The online option is the same vital and interesting course content, but convenient and on-demand. To get started, simply visit the NAA website link below and to register and pay online.

OTHER MULTIFAMILY CREDENTIAL PROGRAMS


INDEPENDENT RENTAL OWNER PROFESSIONAL (IROP)

The Independent Rental Owner Professional (IROP) credential program is offered to the rental owner who manages their personally-held multifamily property or properties. The independent rental owner serves several roles in property management, public relations specialist, administrator, chief financial officer, marketing director and operations manager. Independent rental owners who take the IROP course will learn the many business practices of professional property managers and can now earn the IROP designation after completing the course of study and passing the online exam. With the help of other independent rental owners who devoted their time and expertise to this program, you will receive an "insider's view" of property ownership and management practices.

SPECIALIST IN HOUSING CREDIT MANAGEMENT (SHCM)

As experienced affordable housing management professionals know, the LIHTC program is the primary production tool for creating new affordable housing properties across every state in the country, and it is also the most important tool for rehabilitating and preserving the nation's existing stock of aging affordable housing. To maximize their careers, management professionals in the affordable housing industry must be able to demonstrate their experience and expertise in mastering the complex requirements of the LIHTC program. Earning your SHCM enables you to do just that. The SHCM® is offered in association with the NAA, the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA) and LeadingAge (formerly American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging).

CREDENTIAL FOR GREEN PROPERTY MANAGEMENT (CGPM)

The NAA Education Institute (NAAEI) and the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA) offer the Credential for Green Property Management (CGPM) to onsite managers, maintenance staff and supervisors of frontline staff based on green building principles and best practices, and HUD Office of Recapitalization (RECAP) – established guidelines, with training offered by OAHP-recognized trainers.

CAS SUPPLIER SUCCESS

The Supplier Success course is designed to offer an overview of the apartment industry and recommends ways that suppliers can maximize partnerships with apartment owners, apartment management companies and apartment association members. It was written by successful apartment industry suppliers with years of professional experience. This full-day program is a component of the Certified Apartment Supplier (CAS) credential and can also be offered as a stand-alone course.
