6Earning a credential demonstrates your commitment to your career and gives you valuable insights and real-world skills you can use on the job. Credentials also validate your knowledge and skills, enhance your credibility, boost your confidence and earn you respect among clients and peers.
This page will provide you with important information about earning and maintaining a credential.
Certified Apartment Manager (CAM)
Industry Requirement: 12 months manager experience
Whether you are a property manager or new to property management, this course provides in-depth training and expertise just for you! Earning CAM credentials gives you the skills to increase your community's net operating income; the knowledge to effectively manage an apartment community; and most importantly, the ability to achieve your property owners’ investment goals.
Certificate for Apartment Maintenance Technicians (CAMT)
Industry Requirement: 12 months maintenance experience (provisional certificate available for those who have not reached 12 months)
Maintenance expenses are the single largest controllable element in any operating budget. This course acts as an introduction for new maintenance professionals or as a refresher for the veteran employee, teaching what it takes to run a cost-effective maintenance program.
Certified Apartment Leasing Professional (CALP)
Industry Requirement: 6 months leasing experience (provisional certificate available for those who have not reached 6 months)
Leasing professionals are the first people prospective residents meet and are responsible for generating traffic, conducting leasing demonstrations, overcoming objections and qualifying prospective residents. This program teaches all these skills and more.
Certified Apartment Portfolio Supervisor (CAPS)
Industry Requirement: 24 months as a Multi-Site Supervisor OR over 24 months as an Apartment Manager
This program’s curriculum emphasizes recruiting, retaining and engaging high-performing employees. You’ll also learn how to analyze and report property and portfolio financial results, conduct due diligence and community takeovers and oversee management agreements.
- Step 1 - Account Creation
- To create an NAA account and access PACE, follow these steps.
- IMPORTANT
- Use your legal first and last name as it appears on your ID. Do not use a middle name or nick name.
- Create your account using your PERSONAL e-mail address. This is YOUR account and is not attached to your company, so you will still need access regardless of any company changes.
- Step 2 - Credential Application / Enrollment
- Credential enrollment form (application) submitted
- Industry experience confirmed (this is done manually by NAA, please allow time for this to show completed)
- CAMT ONLY - Online Soft Skills Training completed. CLICK HERE for instructions on how to access the online courses.
- Complete training course - this is done by AAGD on the final day of class. Please allow 24 hours for this to reflect as completed
Once all items have been completed, you will be able to schedule your exam in PACE
All credential exams are taken in a proctored environment, either on your own computer with a remote proctor or at an education provider testing site or Meazure Learning testing center with an in-person proctor.

- Confirm Equipment requirements when testing via Live Remote Proctoring to ensure your equipment works with the exam platform being used.

- To begin your remotely proctored exam, use the information provided in your Exam Confirmation email from Meazure Learning.

You have six (6) months from the date of the first day of class to pass the exam and earn the credential. If you haven’t passed the exam and earned the credential within six (6) months from the date of the first day of class, you may purchase an extension for $75 in PACE to earn an additional six (6) months of candidacy. You may purchase an application extension up to four (4) times. Ultimately, if you do not earn the credential within twenty-four (24) months of the first six-month expiration date, no additional extensions are permitted, and you will have to purchase and complete the course again.
Exam Retakes:
Exam Retakes can be purchased in PACE in the same manner that you scheduled your exam.
Retake fees for exams are as follows:
- CAM and CAPS - $100
- CALP - $60
- CAMT - $55
Candidacy Extensions
After your first six-month application period ends, you may purchase an additional six-month application extension for $75 through PACE. Candidates may purchase an application extension up to four (4) times. Ultimately, if the candidate does not earn the credential within twenty-four (24) months of the first six-month expiration date, no additional extensions are permitted, and the candidate will have to purchase and complete the course again.
To purchase an application extension in PACE:
- Log in to your PACE portal.
- Navigate to the "In-progress Credential Applications" tile.
- Click on "Purchase an Application Extension" under the credential application for which you would like to purchase an extension.
