AAGD Members Make a Difference Through Community Service

Posted By: Alissa Moore AAGD Updates, Community Service,

Each year, the AAGD Products and Services Council (PSC) Committee and the Community Service Committee organize opportunities for AAGD members to give back to local residents. This year, our members came together to complete beautification projects at Trinity View Park in Irving and renovation projects at the Ellis County Children’s Advocacy Center.

In October, over 50 AAGD volunteers joined forces to enhance Trinity View Park in support of Keep Irving Beautiful and the City of Irving Parks and Recreation Department. Together, they repainted worn guardrails and pavilions and picked up litter throughout the park. In the end, volunteers collected a total of 70 pounds of trash and 14 pounds of recyclable materials, helping make the park a cleaner and more welcoming space for community members to enjoy.

This initiative was led by PSC Committee Chair Kyle Gambrell. Following the project, Kyle shared, “We’re proud to be a part of this community and our volunteer days are a chance to bring AAGD members together for the common good.”

In addition to this act of service, AAGD Community Service Committee Co-Chairs John Brandes, Michael Gentile and Ryan Cramer coordinated with a group of AAGD supplier members to complete multiple renovation projects at the Ellis County Children’s Advocacy Center. The projects undertaken include repairing the building’s roof, repainting interior walls and adding a concrete slab to the outdoor area.

Through the generous donation of supplies and labor, participating member companies helped transform the center’s facility into a safer, refreshed environment for the children it serves.

Upon completion of these renovations, Ryan Cramer shared on behalf of the Community Service Committee and all volunteers who participated, “This project had been months in the making, so seeing it come together Tuesday morning and having the chance to spend time with [the center’s] team meant a lot.”

AAGD would like to recognize the following companies who donated their time, labor and supplies to make these renovations possible:

  • GAF (donated roofing materials)

  • Gambit Construction (donated labor to paint interior walls)

  • K4 Construction (donated labor to install concrete pad)

  • Mid Atlantic Roofing (donated metal roofing materials)

  • Pittsburgh Paints (donated painting materials and supplies)

  • Xalted Construction (donated labor to repair roof)

At the beginning of the year, AAGD President Jodi Spurrell emphasized the importance of being a “day maker,” the act of making a difference in someone else’s day through a show of kindness. By improving community spaces and creating a better environment for children in need, our members have demonstrated exactly what it means to be a day maker.

AAGD extends a heartfelt thank you to the PSC and Community Service Committees for facilitating these initiatives to make positive impacts in local communities. The association also thanks all the companies and volunteers who donated their time and resources to make these projects possible.
