Tell Dallas to End the Eviction Ordinance

The Dallas City Council Ad Hoc Committee on COVID-19 Recovery & Assistance will be meeting on Thursday, April 28th at 1:00 pm to discuss the future of the Notice of Possible Eviction ordinance. This ordinance has achieved what it set out to accomplish and helped residents during a time of major uncertainty, but two years later we are, fortunately, in much better circumstances and the ordinance should come to an end.

The ordinance forces housing providers to wait months before receiving any rental payments - payments that are critical for maintaining their properties, paying their employees, and funding other operational expenses. There are also numerous challenges when it comes to communicating with residents, many of whom do not communicate with their housing provider until 21 days after rent is due and the notice of possible eviction is issued.
