Municipal Election Results

Election day was Saturday, May 7. AAGD endorsed 11 candidates for mayor and city council in six cities (Garland, Carrollton, Grand Prairie, Irving, Denton, and Farmers Branch).

Out of 11 endorsed candidates:  7 won, 4 lost, and 1 advanced to a runoff election.

In addition to the elections for mayor, city council, and school board, voters overwhelmingly approved two constitutional amendments. Proposition 1 (elderly and disabled homestead valuation) passed with nearly 87% of the vote, and Proposition 2 (increasing homestead exemption) passed with nearly 85% of the vote. Turnout statewide for the constitutional amendment election was 7.6% of registered voters.

Early voting for the primary runoff election begins on May 16 and ends May 20. Election Day is May 24. AAGD-endorsed candidates in this election include four candidates for state representative, two candidates for justice of the peace, and one candidate for county commissioner.
